Industrial Designer (Temporary Position)
We are seeking an Industrial Designer for a full-time, on-site position at our Headquarters in Sykkylven. The role is a parental leave substitute, and we are looking for someone who can start in March for a duration of approximately seven months.
In this role, you will contribute to the conceptualization and development of PLM and new products, working closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure design quality, functionality, and alignment with Ekornes’ product strategy. You will be working closely with Stressless and IMG brands and it's portfolio development.

- Develop product concepts based on existing platforms, user insights, and new opportunities.
- Support product development projects from concept to implementation.
- Create sketches, 3D models, and rapid prototypes for concept exploration and validation.
- Apply design thinking and user‑centered methods to solve design challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Furniture Design or a related field.
- Strong foundation in industrial design and user research principles.
- Experience with prototyping and creating tangible design models.
- Familiarity with product development processes.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience in furniture design or manufacturing is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Strong 2D and 3D CAD skills, including product modeling, able to deliver technical drawings and well‑structured files for engineering and prototyping.
- High‑quality visualization skills, including sketches, concept presentations and renders for internal alignment and decision‑making.
- Hands‑on experience with rapid prototyping is valued (e.g., 3D printing, mock‑ups, model making) and fast iteration based on testing and feedback.
- Competence in research‑driven concept development, including trend analysis, benchmarking and user research.
- Understanding of materials, construction principles, and production constraints to ensure feasible, ergonomic, and high‑quality solutions is preferred.
- Experience with AI‑assisted visualization tools (e.g., Vizcom) and the ability to integrate AI into design workflows for faster exploration and concept refinement.
- Comfortable working with structured digital development tools and processes from research through development and detailing.
